Assumptions

I assume the nurse’s role in ethics regarding evidence implementation is to constantly be evaluating the actions of themselves as well as others to ensure they hold true to core ethical principles. Especially during research studies, it is important to protect the rights of the patient and ensure all proceedings are ethically sound. For example, participants have the right to withdraw at any time which is an important teaching point. When conducting research, it is the nurse’s responsibility to make sure participants understand what they are consenting to, the risks and benefits of the study, and what their legal and ethical rights are as a participant.
